About Me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois, and I earned my M.A. in Counseling and B.A. in Intercultural Studies from Lincoln Christian University. My clinical training began with a placement in Forensic Mental Health at Andrew McFarland Mental Health Center, where I worked closely with individuals navigating serious, complex mental health challenges, and continued at Methodist College's Student Counseling Center, where I provided individual counseling and EMDR therapy to clients working through anxiety, stress, and major life transitions.
Since then, I've spent over a decade working directly with youth, young adults, and families across education and community settings. I currently design trauma-informed, mindfulness-based programming for kids and teens, including an original curriculum I authored that teaches emotional regulation and social skills, and I work with K-12 schools to deliver concurrent programming with Dialectical Behavior Therapy-based curriculum. It has kept me close to the practical, everyday tools people use to manage difficult emotions, not just the theory behind them.
I live in Central Illinois with my wife and our three kids, two of whom are teenagers, along with two cats, a dog, and a flock of chickens who mostly run the place. My own interests are a bit eclectic; much like me. I love getting outside and I'm just as happy losing an afternoon to a good table-top game or video game.
I have a particular interest in working with youth - adolescents and young adults - and I'm especially drawn to supporting people navigating ADHD and OCD-related concerns.
My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely safe to be honest, so I try to bring both structure and warmth into every session: structure, because real tools and a clear plan help; and warmth, because change happens fastest in a relationship where you feel truly seen and never judged.
Reaching out for support takes real courage, and I don't take that lightly. If you're ready to take that step, I'd be honored to help. Feel free to reach out to get started.
