About Me
I’m Tameka F. Thompson, LPC, a licensed professional counselor.
In therapy, you can expect a warm, steady, and nonjudgmental presence. I believe healing happens when you feel seen, heard, and supported, and I work collaboratively with you to identify goals, build coping skills, strengthen communication, and create healthier patterns in your life and relationships.
With more than 25 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, teens, and families through life’s most challenging moments, I bring both depth and compassion to my work. I earned my M.S. in Human Services–Counseling and my B.A. in Applied Behavioral Science from National-Louis University. My approach is grounded in cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed care, honoring both your story and your strengths.
I help clients navigate anxiety, depression, relationship and family conflict, life transitions, and the lingering effects of stress and trauma. Throughout my career, I have served in a wide range of therapeutic, child welfare, and leadership roles—including mental health counselor, crisis intervention therapist, child protection specialist, and supervisor of investigative teams responsible for child safety. This breadth of experience allows me to bring a holistic, real-world perspective to therapy, helping clients address emotional challenges while also navigating complex systems, stressors, and transitions.
My goal is to provide a safe space where you can grow, heal, and move forward with confidence — knowing you never have to navigate life’s challenges alone.
