About Me

Elissa Bailey, LPC, believes that therapy should feel like a safe, collaborative space where clients are fully seen and heard. Elissa brings clinical expertise alongside deep vocational experience into her counseling work. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Iowa State University, a Master of Divinity from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.

Elissa primarily practices using CBT, DBT, and EMDR. Elissa specializes in religious trauma and neurodiversity and works with clients navigating mood disorders, ADHD, and traumatic experiences. She has extensive experience working with the LGBTQIA+ population and is a strong advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, creating an affirming and supportive space for clients of all identities.

Elissa has served in a variety of ministry roles, including hospital chaplain, Youth Ministries Director, Pastor, and Associate Pastor, and she currently serves within the mid-level governing bodies of her denomination. She has also served as a therapist since the fall of 2023. These experiences have shaped her nuanced understanding of the complex intersection of spirituality and mental health.  Because of her background in ministry and counseling, Elissa understands that church spaces have not always been safe or affirming for LGBTQIA+ individuals. Therefore, she is committed to creating a therapeutic environment that is affirming, respectful, and supportive of your full identity.

Elissa especially enjoys working with individuals and couples who are ready to make meaningful, lifelong changes. Her approach is grounded in openness, authenticity, and deep respect for each client’s goals and lived experience. She is honored to walk alongside clients as they move toward greater wellness, clarity, and self-understanding.

Elissa lives in Bloomington with her three children and three cats. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, just as her grandmother taught her, and curling up with a good book.
