About Me

Hi!  I’m Celia, and I’m a licensed professional counselor in Illinois.  After 15 years working in healthcare as an occupational therapy assistant, I returned to graduate school to pursue a master of arts degree in clinical mental health counseling, which I received from Lincoln Christian University.  In addition to private practice, I have previous and current experience providing mental health counseling at university/college counseling centers.  I find it especially rewarding to help clients who are nervous about starting therapy for the first time or re-starting therapy.

My Approach:

If you're feeling stuck, stressed, anxious, alone, burned out, or are going through challenging life circumstances and are ready for a change, I invite you to give counseling a try!  Some of my interests include anxiety, trauma, the brain, and helping those who feel stuck get "unstuck."  I work with adults of all ages, see individuals and couples, and have concentrated experience with and passion for college student/young adult mental health!

My approach is holistic, integrative, and de-pathologizing.  You're not the problem, the problem is the problem!  My strengths are patience, compassion, and curiosity, peppered with humor.  Utilizing an integrative, collaborative approach, we can work together toward getting you "unstuck" and where you want to be!

I frequently utilize theories and modalities such as acceptance and commitment therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness, nervous system mapping, and motivational interviewing.  I also utilize an attachment lens, existential/humanistic lens, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotionally-focusedtherapy, emotion-focused process-experiential therapy, and a strengths-based approach.

As a life-long learner, I am committed to growth and development as a therapist through trainings, consulting with other therapists, and reading books. I hold a CTP (certified trauma professional) designation from Evergreen Certifications, which means I have taken a certain amount of hours of continuing education with a trauma-related focus.  I have focused additional areas of continuing education around a range of topics such as anxiety, ADHD, acceptance and commitment therapy, emotionally-focused individual therapy, and polyvagal theory. I have also completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy – Level 1. Being human can be hard.  It can also be beautiful.  I would be honored to help in your healing journey.

You can email me here if you are ready to get started.
