About Me

I’m originally from North Central Illinois and relocated to the Bloomington-Normal area after completing graduate school. Having experienced both “sides” of the counseling process, I am passionate about empowering clients in the process of therapy to help them discover themselves and experience life more fully.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), EMDR Trained, and in the process of becoming a Clinical Certified Trauma Professional. I received my master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Lincoln Christian University (LCU) in Lincoln, Illinois. Through my training at LCU, I have developed a trauma-informed approach to understanding my clients. I completed my clinical experience at Integrity Counseling in Bloomington working with adults, and at the LCU Student Counseling Center working with young adults, couples, and groups. I have experience working with mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, and complex attachment trauma in individual, couples, and group settings. I specialize in relational trauma encompassing attachment wounds, parental abuse, partner violence, spiritual abuse, and developmental trauma. Safety is a priority in sessions which I work to create with the client while supporting them in their healing journey. Previously, I worked in the physical therapy field which influences my understanding of mind-body connection, pain management, and movement for the body. With this past experience, I integrate embodiment practice and somatic techniques into my conceptualization of clients and in sessions. I’m passionate about advocacy to raise awareness of religious trauma and intimate partner violence. In the past, I volunteered with a domestic violence shelter in my hometown area and was a 40-hour rape crisis trained advocate.

I enjoy coming alongside clients on their journey of healing and using evidence-based practices. I strive to be an affirming and welcoming space for under-served populations such as people of color, LGBTQA+, transgender, polyamorous, and BDSM/kink communities. Since everyone’s experience is different, I seek to collaborate with clients on their goals and methods of treatment planning. This will often include psychoeducation on the process of treatment and a welcoming space for questions that clients may have. I believe every person deserves a space to be heard, appreciated, and safe. When working with clients, I use Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Somatic, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy in addition to trauma-informed practices. I enjoy integrating embodiment and parts work to help clients connect with their internal experiences. I value the therapeutic relationship and enjoy helping clients identify their strengths. You can expect an empathetic, non-judgemental atmosphere when working together where you can explore yourself and your experiences.
